Mixed arabic-and-index dial watches

References that combine Arabic numerals at key positions (12, 3, 6, 9) with indices or markers elsewhere.

Mixed-numeral dials combine Arabic numerals at key positions (typically 12, 3, 6, 9, or 6, 9, 12) with indices or markers at the remaining hour positions. The format is common on sport-pilot and field watches where navigational legibility at the cardinal points is valued but a fully-Arabic dial would read as too instrument-like. The Montblanc 1858 Geosphere, some Fortis Marinemaster variants, and many Alpiner references use this approach. In practice, "mixed" dials often appear on references that want to balance legibility with visual restraint, fewer numerals = quieter dial, more = more information density.
