Authentication
The "teak" dial lines are machine-engraved and must cast a shadow under raking light; any Aqua Terra 41mm with flat printed lines has a counterfeit or replaced dial.
Known issues in the market
- Printed teak-line dials are the primary counterfeit dial type for the Aqua Terra; raking light inspection immediately separates engraved from printed.
- The engraved lines must be uniform in depth and spacing; uneven depth indicates a non-genuine or re-engraved dial.
- METAS certification on Cal. 8900 is mandatory; absence of the METAS caseback stamp is a disqualifying observation.
| Area | What to check | What is correct | Red flag |
|---|---|---|---|
| dial | Teak-line engraving depth | Machine-engraved vertical lines with uniform depth, casting a subtle shadow under raking light | Flat printed lines with no shadow under raking light; lines with inconsistent depth or spacing |
| caseback | METAS certification stamp | METAS logo and Master Chronometer designation engraved on caseback | No METAS stamp; caseback with only COSC or no certification mark |
| movement | Cal. 8900 identity | Cal. 8900 with Co-Axial escapement architecture visible through caseback | Any non-Co-Axial movement; caliber designation other than 8900 |
Common legitimate replacements
- Dials on the Aqua Terra are occasionally replaced; confirm engraved line depth with raking light before purchase.
- Integrated bracelets are a common swap; confirm Omega-signed clasp on the bracelet.

The Aqua Terra's horizontal "Teak" groove pattern is distinctive and hard to reproduce well. The Co-Axial escapement inside is essentially impossible to fake at any cost. Inspect the groove depth and OMEGA crown logo sharpness first.
