Authentication
The arched case profile is the primary authentication check; fakes cannot replicate the exact depth and curve.
Known issues in the market
- Lacquered dial is thin and delicate; cracks indicate moisture damage.
- Case profile depth is difficult to replicate; incorrect profile is a strong fake indicator.
| Area | What to check | What is correct | Red flag |
|---|---|---|---|
| case | Arched case profile | Specific cushion-to-round transitional profile with correct depth and curve for the Baumuster A design | Flat or incorrect case depth; curve does not match documented profile |
| dial | Lacquer condition | Smooth lacquer surface with no cracks or chips | Visible lacquer cracks or chips; indicates moisture exposure |
| caseback | Cal. J800.1 designation | J800.1 engraved; ETA 2824-2 base with Junghans finishing | Generic caliber designation without Junghans identification |
Common legitimate replacements
- Crystal; arched crystal must match case profile.
- Crown; original profile required.

The Form A is Junghans' even-simpler alternative to the Max Bill. Where the Max Bill has the designer association and the "max bill" text, the Form A is purely monochromatic with minimal markings. The J800.1 automatic caliber is the same as the Max Bill.
