What it is

Junghans launched the Form A as a deliberate departure within its own design family, acknowledging that not every collector wants a square case but still wants the Junghans sensibility. The 39.3mm diameter hits a sweet spot that reads modern without chasing fashion. Production runs from 2018 to the present, keeping it current and parts-accessible.

The sapphire caseback is a nice touch at this price point, letting you watch the J800.1 work without any pretense that the movement is something it is not.

Buying notes

The dial printing on early examples has shown inconsistency under magnification, so inspect closely before buying secondhand. The crown is not screw-down, and while 50m water resistance is fine for daily wear, it is not a watch to take swimming. The J800.1 is a regulated ETA 2824-2, which is competent and serviceable but worth knowing upfront if you were expecting an in-house movement.

Lume is minimal by design; this is not a legibility watch in the dark. Strap fitment is 18mm, which limits aftermarket options slightly compared to more common 20mm lugs.
