Condition affects price
Pre-owned watches trade across a wide condition spectrum. These ranges are typical for the secondary market.

Market price
The Octa Automatique is the entry to Journe's automatic family; secondary prices vary considerably by case metal and dial, with silicon-escapement variants now discontinued and therefore commanding a premium.
Editorial estimate, 2026 Q2. Actual prices vary by condition, date, and box/papers status.

Authentication
Peripheral automatic rotor and 120-hour power reserve indicator authenticate the Octa Automatique
- Octa platform is the foundation of multiple FPJ complications; dial-swap fraud uses Octa bases with different dials
- 120-hour power reserve is a distinctive specification; verify the indicator reads correctly
- Calibre 1300.3 signing is frequently incorrect on counterfeits
| Area | What to check | What is correct | Red flag |
|---|---|---|---|
| dial | Power reserve indicator and signing | "120h" power reserve scale with correct graduation; "Automatique" designation; "F.P.Journe" and "Genève" in correct typeface; either rose gold or brass dial depending on documented variant | Different power reserve scale suggesting wrong movement; missing "Automatique"; "Genève" misspelled; incorrect dial material for the case metal variant |
| movement | Calibre 1300 with peripheral rotor | Rotor visible at periphery of movement (not central); movement fully decorated and signed "F.P.Journe"; 120-hour power reserve confirmed; silicon hairspring on later examples | Central rotor (indicates wrong movement); undecorated movement; power reserve shorter than specified; incorrect calibre number |
| case | Octa case proportions | 42mm diameter; tantalum, rose gold, platinum, or yellow gold per production series; crown at 12; exhibition caseback showing periphery rotor | Crown at 3; incorrect case diameter; solid caseback on display variant |
- Strap and deployment buckle are commonly replaced; verify FPJ proprietary buckle geometry.
- Earlier calibre 1300 examples lack silicon hairspring; presence of silicon indicates later production run.
Authentication guide
The Octa Automatique is FPJ's principal automatic. The large offset power reserve disc on the dial is the defining visual element. The 18k gold micro-rotor, visible through the caseback as a small dense semicircle, is the primary movement authentication anchor. All FPJ gold movement plate checks apply without modification.
