Authentication

Both pushers must depress and return cleanly; the Polo S chronograph is mechanically complex for its size and service access is limited.

Known issues in the market
  • The integrated case architecture limits service access; a Polo S chronograph that has not been serviced by a Piaget-authorized center is higher risk.
  • The column wheel must be visible through the caseback; verify the caseback is original and not replaced with a solid caseback.

Common legitimate replacements
  • Chronograph pusher gaskets are service parts; worn gaskets on a water-resistant chronograph allow moisture ingress.
  • Integrated case architecture means bracelet replacement must use Piaget OEM parts to maintain factory tolerances.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The Polo S Chronograph adds a column-wheel chronograph to the 1160P architecture. The integrated bracelet, peripheral rotor, and column-wheel chronograph together define the authentication profile. This reference is significantly more expensive than the time-only Polo S and is the priority inspection target for potential misrepresentation.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
HIGH RISK

Cam-lever chronograph without column wheel

  • Pusher feel is mushy without a defined engagement click
  • Column wheel absent through caseback
  • Movement architecture shows cam and lever rather than column wheel
HIGH RISK

Central rotor instead of peripheral winding

  • Standard half-moon automatic rotor visible through caseback
  • Movement does not show the characteristic peripheral winding ring
  • Overall movement appearance inconsistent with Piaget 1160P

Dial variants by era

toggle
EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2016 to presentSilver or black dial with chronograph subdials. The layout has a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock and a small seconds at 9 o'clock (or running seconds and a 30-minute counter depending on sub-variant). Two chronograph pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock. The integrated Polo S bracelet is identical to the time-only variant: brushed tops, polished flanks.
  • Two chronograph pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock
  • Chronograph subdials integrated into the dial layout
  • Integrated steel bracelet with same dual-surface finish as time-only Polo S
  • "POLO S" designation on dial
  • 42mm case
  • Column-wheel chronograph: pushers should have precise, defined engagement feel

Service part flags

toggle
Column-wheel verification

Original: Caliber 1160P with chronograph uses a column wheel for accurate start/stop engagement. The pushers should feel crisp and defined, not mushy. The column wheel is visible through the caseback as a small toothed wheel.

Replacement tells
  • Pusher engagement is mushy without a definitive click
  • Column wheel absent from caseback view
  • Cam-lever chronograph architecture visible instead of column-wheel layout
Peripheral winding with chronograph

Original: The 1160P chronograph retains the peripheral winding system of the base Polo S movement. The peripheral rotor ring is visible through the caseback alongside the chronograph architecture.

Replacement tells
  • Central rotor instead of peripheral winding ring
  • Movement architecture shows generic chronograph layout without the peripheral winding feature
  • Bridges undecorated
Bracelet

Original: Identical to the time-only Polo S: brushed top faces, polished flanks, sharp transition between the two surfaces. The bracelet is the same unit as on the non-chronograph variant.

Replacement tells
  • Uniformly brushed or uniformly polished bracelet
  • Brushed-to-polished transition blurry or gradual
  • Link proportions inconsistent with the genuine Polo S bracelet

Case back markings

toggle
2016 to present
  • Caliber 1160P designation (same base caliber, chronograph-equipped variant)
  • "PIAGET" with logo
  • Water resistance: 100m
  • Reference G0A41006 with serial number
  • "STAINLESS STEEL"
  • "SWISS MADE"

Movement tells

toggle
  • Caliber 1160P chronograph: 50-hour power reserve, same as the base time-only 1160P. Power reserve depletion rate is unchanged by the chronograph module running.
  • The peripheral rotor winding in a chronograph movement is unusual -- it provides lighter winding resistance than a central rotor and allows a thinner overall case. Heavy winding feel from a small case suggests a different architecture.
  • Column wheel: start/stop pusher should have a definitive, pleasing click. The column-wheel architecture is more reliable over time than cam-lever designs and has a more precise pusher feel.
