The dial texture is pressed and finished by hand at the Shinshu Watch Studio in Shiojiri, in the Japanese Alps, where the reference gets its name from the surrounding snowfields. Spring Drive itself predates this reference by over a decade: Seiko spent more than 28 years developing the glide spring mechanism before it reached commercial production in 1999.
