Authentication

All bracelet scale links must move freely; stuck scales indicate trapped debris or a damaged link. Dial alignment defects are immediately visible given the small dial size.

Known issues in the market
  • Stuck or stiff scale links indicate debris trapped in the mechanism or a bent link; each scale must articulate freely.
  • The Serpenti dial is extremely small; any printing misalignment or defect is visible to the naked eye.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The Serpenti Seduttori is a jewellery watch in the form of a coiling serpent bracelet with the watch face at the serpent's head. It is not commonly replicated due to the construction complexity. Authentication focuses on the scale-link bracelet construction quality and the caseback movement identification.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
LOW

The Serpenti is rarely replicated due to the individual scale-link construction complexity. The main risk is non-Bulgari costume jewellery pieces represented as genuine.

  • Scale links that are stamped flat rather than three-dimensional formed links
  • Bracelet that does not flex smoothly or does not coil naturally around the wrist
  • Serpent head construction that is obviously separate from the bracelet rather than integrated
  • No "BVLGARI" identification on the dial or caseback

The Serpenti is an unusual authentication context because it is a jewellery piece first and a watch second. The scale-link construction quality is the primary tell -- genuine Bulgari Serpenti scales are individually formed pieces, not stamped repetitions.

Dial variants by era

toggle
EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2016 to presentThe watch face is the head of the serpent, with a small round dial. The bracelet consists of individual scale-shaped links forming the serpent body. Available in white, silver, black, and champagne dials.
  • Serpent coil bracelet made of individual scale-shaped links -- each scale is a formed metal link, not a stamped or flat surface
  • Small round watch dial at the serpent's head with hour and minute hands (or quartz display)
  • "BVLGARI" text on the dial face
  • Scale links that articulate smoothly -- the bracelet should flex naturally around the wrist in a continuous coil
  • Snake-eye decoration on the serpent head -- typically set stones or enamel eyes at the crown/clasp area

Service part flags

Scale-link bracelet

Original: The bracelet scales are individually formed links. Each scale should be symmetrical and consistent in shape with its neighbors. The links articulate on pins and should move smoothly without binding or excessive play.

Replacement tells
  • Scale links with inconsistent shape or size across the bracelet length
  • Links that bind or do not articulate smoothly when the bracelet is flexed
  • Pins between links that are exposed or visible at the scale edges rather than hidden by the scale geometry
  • Surface finish on replaced scales inconsistent with the aging character of the original bracelet
Serpent head case

Original: The head of the serpent houses the watch movement and dial. The case should be seamlessly integrated into the serpent design. The crown (if manual-wind) should be accessible at a logical position on the head.

Replacement tells
  • Head-to-bracelet join that is not seamless or shows a visible manufacturing gap
  • Crown that is absent or at an incorrect position for the serpent head design
  • Dial that is oversized or undersized relative to the head case geometry

Case back markings

toggle
2016 to present
  • Caseback integrated into the serpent head with "BVLGARI" text
  • Reference 103277 or production variant
  • "SWISS MADE" on the caseback
  • Movement designation (quartz or mechanical caliber identification) on the caseback
  • Serial number

Movement tells

toggle
  • The Serpenti Seduttori uses a quartz movement (BVL 191P) in most configurations, with some mechanical variants using the BVL 100 hand-wind caliber.
  • For quartz variants, battery life is the primary service consideration. The serpent case construction makes battery access a watchmaker's task rather than a DIY operation.
  • For mechanical variants, the Cal. BVL 100 is a hand-wind caliber that requires manual winding -- there is no automatic rotor. The crown position on the serpent head is the winding crown.
