Brand history
Founded by Louis-François Cartier in Paris as a jeweller; the watch manufacture is in La Chaux-de-Fonds, but the maison, the design language, and the archives remain Parisian.
Founded 1847 by Louis-François Cartier in Paris. Cartier produced the Santos (1904) and the Tank (1917), arguably the two foundational designs of the 20th-century wristwatch. Identity is dressy, design-driven, and unmistakable; in the modern catalog the Santos, Tank, and Ballon Bleu are the most-collected.
