Authentication

The chain-attached grid dial protector must be present and intact; a missing chain is a disclosed component loss that reduces collectible value.

Known issues in the market
  • The Pasha grid protector chain is a delicate component; it is lost or damaged on many secondary market examples.
  • The sub-registers must be visible through the grid overlay when the protector is fitted; confirm alignment is correct.

Common legitimate replacements
  • Grid protector chains are replaced with aftermarket non-Cartier chains; confirm the chain is factory correct.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The Pasha Chronograph is defined by its round case with the distinctive screw-down crown cap on a chain at 3 o'clock and the square sub-dial frames within a round dial. The crown cap and the internal square dial architecture are the fastest authentication checkpoints.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
MEDIUM

The Pasha Chronograph attracts moderate reproduction volume. The crown cap and chain assembly are often incorrect on non-original examples.

  • Crown cap chain that is too coarse in link size for the case scale
  • Square sub-dial frames with rounded rather than crisp corners
  • Arabic numeral typeface that does not match the Cartier Pasha's specific proportions

Dial variants by era

toggle
EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2020 to present (current generation, WHPA0007)White, silver, or anthracite dial with square Arabic numeral sub-registers for the chronograph functions, set within a round dial field. Large Arabic numerals (not Roman) for the hour markers.
  • Arabic numerals (not Roman) for hour markers; the Pasha uses Arabic numerals as its house distinction
  • Square frames around the chronograph sub-dials at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock -- these squared registers within a round dial are the Pasha's signature architectural choice
  • Cabochon sapphire crown cap on a chain at 3 o'clock; the cap screws down over the winding crown
  • "Pasha de Cartier" text on the dial below 12 o'clock
  • Date window integrated within the sub-dial layout (position varies by sub-dial configuration)

Service part flags

Crown cap and chain

Original: The screw-down crown cap is a small domed cap with a cabochon sapphire on top, connected to the case by a fine chain. The cap screws down over the winding crown and acts as both a protective cover and a dust seal. The chain is attached at one end to the cap and at the other to the case.

Replacement tells
  • Crown cap with no chain, or a chain that is attached differently from the original lug point
  • Crown cap cabochon that is flat rather than domed, or that is a different material from synthetic sapphire
  • Cap thread that does not engage smoothly, suggesting a replaced cap with incorrect thread pitch
  • Chain that appears to be a generic link chain rather than the fine chain specific to the Pasha
Sub-dial architecture

Original: The square frames around the chronograph sub-dials are integral to the dial design, not applied. The square corners are crisp. The sub-dial recesses are below the main dial plane.

Replacement tells
  • Square sub-dial frames that have rounded corners on a stated current-generation Pasha
  • Sub-dial surfaces that are at the same level as the main dial rather than being recessed
  • Arabic numerals within the sub-dials that are in incorrect typeface relative to the hour markers

Case back markings

toggle
2020 to present
  • Solid caseback with reference WHPA0007 and serial number
  • "CARTIER" text, "ACIER" (steel), water resistance rating
  • Cal. 1904-CH MC designation on caseback or service documentation
  • "Swiss Made" engraving

Movement tells

toggle
  • The current Pasha Chronograph uses Cal. 1904-CH MC, an integrated chronograph movement developed by Cartier. The caseback is solid; no exhibition window on the standard steel reference.
  • The 1904-CH MC is a column-wheel chronograph with a vertical clutch. A correctly serviced example should show positive column-wheel clicks when the chronograph is engaged and released.
