The four integrated claw lugs gripping the bezel are both the signature design element and a known damage point; inspect all four claw tips carefully under loupe.
Known issues in the market
- Claw tip damage from prying during unauthorized caseback attempts; the claws are thin and the tips break or deform under tool pressure.
- Bezel insert replacement with non-original; the fluted bezel on this reference has specific geometry and finish.
- Cal. 8600 replaced with non-METAS movement; METAS certification is a key feature of this reference.

Common legitimate replacements
- Claw tips are the most commonly damaged and repaired element; any claw repair should be disclosed and reduces value.
- Integrated bracelets are specific to the Constellation and non-original replacements are immediately visible at the end links.

The Constellation 39mm uses the same four-claw case architecture as the 41mm but scaled to a smaller diameter. Cal. 8600 is Co-Axial Master Chronometer. The claw casting geometry and applied star at 6 o'clock are the visual anchors. Same inspection approach as the 41mm -- claws first.
