Authentication

Same HMC 200 as the Pioneer but in a traditional round case; verify the case profile matches Heritage (traditional lugs) not Pioneer (cushion).

Known issues in the market
  • The Heritage uses HMC 200 like the Pioneer but in a different case; case shape is the primary model differentiator.
  • The fumee dial authentication checks from the Pioneer apply identically to the Heritage.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The Heritage Centre Seconds is Moser's smallest-format dress piece (38.5mm), a time-only watch with the fumé dial in a rounded heritage case shape. The small size relative to Moser's other lines and the centre seconds layout make it the most pared-back expression of the Moser aesthetic. Any Heritage with indices, a date, or sub-dials is a different reference.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
LOW

The Heritage Centre Seconds is rarely replicated. The salmon fumé dial is the most distinctive characteristic and the hardest to reproduce convincingly.

  • Flat or uniform salmon color without genuine fumé gradient depth
  • Any printed hour markers on the dial
  • Date window on a stated time-only Heritage
  • Conventional metallic hairspring through caseback
  • Case size larger than 38.5mm on a stated Heritage Centre Seconds

Dial variants by era

EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2018 to presentCurrent production Heritage Centre Seconds in rose gold or steel, 38.5mm. Black or salmon fumé dials with centre seconds. No complications beyond timekeeping.
  • Fumé dial in black or salmon -- the salmon variant is a distinctive Moser color not widely available elsewhere
  • No hour indices on the dial -- the fumé gradient is the only depth reference
  • "H. Moser & Cie." text in the correct small placement on the lower dial
  • Centre seconds hand, no sub-dial
  • No date window
  • Round case with slim profile appropriate for a dress watch at 38.5mm
  • No complications of any kind beyond hours, minutes, and centre seconds

Service part flags

Salmon fumé dial (on salmon variants)

Original: The salmon fumé is a warm pink-orange gradient specific to Moser's Heritage line. Genuine salmon fumé has depth and the gradient transitions smoothly from a lighter warm center to a deeper salmon at the periphery. This color treatment is Moser-specific.

Replacement tells
  • Flat salmon-colored dial with no gradient depth -- printing cannot replicate the fumé three-dimensional character
  • Color that is uniform pink rather than the salmon-orange with gradient of genuine production
  • Banding or color breaks in the gradient
Fumé dial (black variant)

Original: The black fumé on the Heritage is a deep dark dial with lighter center. Similar authentication logic to other Moser fumé dials: no indices, gradient must be consistent, no printing artifacts.

Replacement tells
  • Flat black dial with no visible gradient from center to edge
  • Any printed indices on the dial
  • Date window on a stated time-only Heritage Centre Seconds
Movement via caseback

Original: Exhibition caseback displaying Cal. HMC 200 (shared with the Pioneer Centre Seconds). The Straumann hairspring is present. Movement finishing to Moser's standard.

Replacement tells
  • Conventional metallic hairspring instead of Straumann flat silicon
  • Movement finishing coarse under magnification
  • Movement layout inconsistent with Cal. HMC 200 architecture

Case back markings

toggle
2018 to present
  • Exhibition caseback displaying Cal. HMC 200
  • Straumann hairspring visible in the balance assembly
  • "H. Moser & Cie." on the movement
  • Reference and serial number on the case band
  • 750 gold or steel hallmark per case material

Movement tells

toggle
  • Cal. HMC 200 carries the Straumann flat-coil silicon hairspring. It is the signature Moser movement tell across the Heritage and Pioneer lines.
  • Power reserve is approximately 72 hours. A Heritage Centre Seconds stopping before 60 hours when fully wound warrants service.
  • Movement finishing: bevels, surfaces, and where applicable perlage should show hand-finishing variability under 10x magnification. Machine-uniform finishing is inconsistent with Moser production standards.
