Authentication

The flyback function must reset and restart instantaneously; any hesitation in the lower pusher indicates chronograph service.

Known issues in the market
  • Flyback reset must be instantaneous; any slow or partial reset is a service indicator.
  • The full calendar (day, date, month) must advance correctly across month-ends.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The Master Control Chronograph Calendar combines a flyback chronograph with a full calendar display in a 40mm steel case. The chronograph and calendar function independently -- both must be verified. Dial legibility under multiple complications is the design achievement here, and any deviation from the clean information hierarchy is a red flag.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
HIGH RISK

Non-flyback chronograph

  • Chronograph requires stop before reset
  • No instantaneous reset behavior
MEDIUM

Calendar requiring correction at every month end

  • Calendar advancing incorrectly at the end of any 30-day month -- annual calendar only needs February correction

Dial variants by era

toggle
EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2020 to present (current generation)Silver dial with three-register chronograph layout plus calendar indications. Day, date, and month displayed via apertures and sectors.
  • Three-register flyback chronograph: 30-minute at 3, small seconds at 6, 12-hour at 9
  • Calendar: day aperture, month aperture, and date sector or pointer on the main dial
  • Moon phase display present on the lower dial half (combined with calendar)
  • "MASTER CONTROL" and "CHRONOGRAPH CALENDAR" text on dial
  • Applied baton and Arabic indices, fully polished
  • Flyback pusher at 10 o'clock (or 4 depending on configuration) for instantaneous reset

Service part flags

toggle
Flyback chronograph

Original: Cal. 759 flyback column wheel chronograph. Press the flyback pusher while the chronograph is running: the seconds hand resets to zero and restarts instantaneously.

Replacement tells
  • Chronograph that does not reset instantaneously while running (non-flyback behavior)
  • Sluggish seconds hand reset
  • Column wheel not visible through caseback if the movement is exposed
Calendar mechanism

Original: Full calendar: day, date, month, moonphase, all advancing automatically. All indications jump at midnight except the moonphase, which advances once per lunar day.

Replacement tells
  • Any calendar indication that requires correction at month ends other than February (annual) or not at all (perpetual) -- the Master Control Chrono Calendar uses an annual calendar that requires one February correction
  • Calendar indications that advance slowly rather than jumping at midnight
  • Moonphase that is not aligned with the actual lunar cycle

Case back markings

toggle
All Q4138420 production
  • Exhibition caseback with Cal. 759 engraved on movement plate
  • "JAEGER-LECOULTRE" and serial number on caseback rim
  • Reference Q4138420 on caseback or between lugs
  • Water resistance rating on caseback

Movement tells

toggle
  • Combined chronograph and calendar service is complex; post-service, all calendar indications must be set and verified across at least one month-end
  • Flyback function test as with other flyback references: run the chronograph, press flyback pusher, verify instantaneous reset
