The L.U.C XPS Titanium takes an already exceptional thin watch and strips it further. At 3.65mm thick in grade 5 titanium, it is lighter and more wearable than the steel XPS without sacrificing the in-house movement that gives the line its credibility. Few watches at this price point offer genuine manufacture thinness in an uncommon metal.

What it is

Chopard's L.U.C division was founded in 1996 as a genuine manufacture effort, separate from the fashion side of the company. The XPS line pushed L.U.C into ultra-thin territory with calibers built to fit cases under 4mm. The titanium variant of the 40mm XPS arrived in 2017 as a material upgrade, not merely a colorway.

Chopard uses grade 5 titanium here, which is harder and more scratch-resistant than the grade 2 used by many competitors. The 168592-3001 reference represents Chopard's case that thin watchmaking does not require platinum or steel to be serious.

The titanium case is harder than steel but the brushed finish shows contact marks differently, and refinishing costs can surprise first-time titanium buyers. The 01.01-L movement services only through Chopard authorized centers, and independent watchmakers with genuine L.U.C experience are rare outside major cities. The dial is small enough that the printing is delicate , inspect for any chipping around the indices before purchase on the secondary market.

Straps on this reference are proprietary-width, which limits aftermarket options more than a standard 20mm lug. Resale liquidity for titanium L.U.C references is lower than for steel or gold variants, so buyers should treat this as a long hold.

The titanium XPS trades at a notable discount to the gold versions on the secondary market, which makes it an undervalued entry into genuine manufacture ultra-thin watchmaking. Service expectations

The caliber 01.01-L is a self-winding movement with an 65-hour power reserve, built entirely in-house at Chopard's Fleurier manufacture. Service intervals are recommended at five to seven years and should be performed by Chopard or a watchmaker with documented L.U.C experience given the movement's compact geometry. Retain all service records, as they directly support resale value for a reference where buyer confidence matters.
