The HM9 is hand-wound with two independent balance wheels, one under each side-pod crystal; both must be running, and there are no winding rotors of any kind to look for.
- MB and F pieces ship with extensive documentation; any HM9 without original papers requires provenance investigation.
- The HM9 Flow was four limited editions totalling 102 pieces (33 each in titanium Air and Road, 18 each in red gold Air and Road), all 2018 to 2019. A piece presented as an unnumbered or open-production HM9 Flow is wrong.
- Five separate sapphire crystals seal a compound-curved case on a patented three-dimensional gasket. Water resistance is only 30m and any crystal reseal is a factory job.
| Area | What to check | What is correct | Red flag |
|---|---|---|---|
| movement | Twin independent balance wheels | Both balances under the side-pod crystals are running, each at its own visible cadence, at 18,000 vph | One balance stopped or missing; any claim of an automatic winding rotor or turbine, which belongs to the HM6, not the HM9 |
| case | HM9 case profile and crystals | Seamless compound curve, 57 x 47 x 23mm, grade 5 titanium or 18k 5N+ red gold, five sapphire crystals | Case profile variation, crystal haze or fogging, evidence of a non-factory reseal |
| movement | 45h power reserve, hand-wound | Crown at the rear of the body; approximately 45h run time from a single barrel | Run time substantially below 45h; any power-reserve indication on the dial, which the HM9 does not have |
- No standard service replacements; MB and F authorized service only.
