The PanoMaticLunar combines the panorama date at the upper right, a small seconds sub-dial, and a moonphase display. The moonphase disc is at approximately 8-9 o'clock. Three complications on one dial make the PanoMaticLunar the most visually complex standard GO piece and the panorama date remains the definitive position check.

Outright replicas of the PanoMaticLunar are uncommon. Parts-mixed examples or movement swaps within the GO Pano family are the more realistic concern.

Moonphase disc

Original: The moonphase aperture shows a deep blue or dark sky disc with moon imagery. The disc should show accurate progression: one full cycle is 29.5 days. The GO moonphase disc is high quality and the moon imagery should be crisp.

Replacement tells
  • Moon imagery that is blurred, printed flatly, or shows visible pixelation under loupe
  • Moonphase that does not advance over several days (disc stuck or disconnected)
  • Moonphase display with a sky color inconsistent with the known production variant (wrong blue shade)
Panorama date mechanism

Original: Two stacked discs at the upper right jumping simultaneously at midnight. Identical mechanism to the PanoReserve; the date aperture position at 12-to-1 o'clock is the fastest dial check.

Replacement tells
  • Date window at any position other than the upper right
  • Date that advances in multiple steps rather than jumping simultaneously
  • Vertical misalignment of the two date discs at the aperture
Movement via caseback

Original: Exhibition caseback displaying Cal. 90-02 with skeletonized rotor. The three-quarter plate is visible with Glashütte ribbing and perlage. The skeletonized rotor allows partial movement visibility when it swings.

  • Cal. 90-02 carries all three complications -- panorama date, small seconds, and moonphase -- driven from a single movement. The moonphase accuracy should be within approximately one day over 2.5 years before manual correction is required.
  • The skeletonized rotor is a design element of the 90-02; it should be present and should spin freely with no lateral play.
  • Three-quarter plate finishing is the primary movement authentication check: Glashütte ribbing must be perfectly parallel and have flat-polished inter-groove lands under magnification.
  • Power reserve is approximately 50 hours. A PanoMaticLunar stopping before 40 hours when fully wound warrants service.
