The date wheel must advance cleanly at midnight without lagging; on an ultra-thin movement this mechanism has no tolerance for service neglect.

The Altiplano Date Automatic 40mm carries caliber 1203P, adding a date complication to the ultra-thin architecture at 6.4mm total case height. The movement is case-integrated, recessed into the caseback. This reference demonstrates that a date window does not require thickness sacrifice on an ultra-thin platform.

Movement through caseback

Original: Caliber 1203P adds a date module to the 1200P ultra-thin base. The display caseback shows decorated bridges with Cotes de Geneve. The 18k gold rotor is visible. The date mechanism sits between the base movement and the dial, not on top of the bridges.

Movement tells

  • Caliber 1203P has a 44-hour power reserve, identical to the 1200P base caliber. Power reserve behavior is the same as the dateless Altiplano.
  • The date change occurs at midnight as a quick jump. Gradual date change (taking hours) indicates a worn date mechanism.
  • Decorated bridges are mandatory: Cotes de Geneve and anglage visible through the caseback. Same standard as all Piaget movements.
