The monobloc case with no separate screw-down caseback is the PloProf's defining (and hardest-to-fake) construction detail; any example with a conventional removable caseback is not a genuine PloProf.
Known issues in the market
- Monobloc construction misunderstood or misrepresented; the PloProf case has no separate caseback, the movement is serviced through the crystal side, so a watch advertised as a PloProf with a normal screw-down caseback is incorrect.
- Sapphire bezel insert with the blue lacquer backing scratched or delaminating; the color comes from lacquer behind clear sapphire, not a solid-color ceramic or aluminum insert.
- Security pusher at 2 o'clock (which unlocks the bezel) missing, seized, or replaced with a non-functional dummy button.

- Because the case has no exhibition caseback, movement verification relies on documented service history rather than visual inspection; request Omega service records where possible.
- The O-MegaSteel alloy is specific to this generation of PloProf; a case advertised as O-MegaSteel but visually matching standard 316L steel finishing should be questioned.
