Authentication

The Museum dial has a single dot at 12 and no other hour markers; any additional markers or numerals on a Museum-branded watch indicate a Heritage variant or non-genuine dial.

Known issues in the market
  • Museum dial is defined by the single dot at 12 only; no other markers is the correct configuration.
  • The Movado-signed ETA 2824 rotor is the caseback marker.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The Museum Classic Automatic is defined by the single gold dot at precisely 12 o'clock and nothing else on the dial, a design registered by Movado from 1947. Authenticity starts with the dot: it must be at exactly 12, it must be the only marker, and it must be gold or gold-toned. Movement is ETA 2824-2 with Movado finishing.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
MEDIUM

Museum dial replicas exist at lower price points. The single-dot design is easy to copy in low-quality production.

  • Dot not at exactly 12 o'clock
  • Dot with printed appearance rather than applied or inlaid construction
  • "MOVADO" text with kerning or font inconsistency
  • Caseback without Movado star logo
  • Movement without ETA 2824-2 identification inside

The Museum dial concept is widely imitated. At this price tier, verify the caseback engraving and movement identity before purchase.
