The reversing mechanism must flip cleanly and lock with a positive click; a sticky or loose flip is the primary red flag
- The sliding swivel mechanism is complex; worn or damaged hinges are the most common mechanical issue
- Fake Reverso dials often have incorrect font on the hobnail engraving pattern around the case
