Domed crystal and retro font are the defining visual elements; flat crystal replacement changes the character significantly.

Known issues in the market
  • Flat crystal replacing the original dome crystal substantially alters the visual presentation; any Sixties with flat crystal is an incorrect restoration.
  • Annual edition papers confirm limited production; verify edition designation matches papers.

Last reviewed June 2026

The Sixties is GO's retro-inspired piece: cushion-shaped case, domed crystal, Arabic numerals, and a deliberately simple movement (Cal. 39-52) relative to the Pano family. The domed crystal is the most immediately identifiable physical characteristic. Any Sixties with a flat crystal is incorrect.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
LOW

Replicas of the Sixties are uncommon. The domed crystal is the fastest physical check: a flat crystal immediately flags an incorrect example or incorrect service replacement.

  • Flat crystal on a stated Sixties -- the dome is a production constant, not optional
  • Arabic numerals with font inconsistent with the known 1960s-style GO typeface
  • Cushion case with visible join lines between body and lugs
  • Case size inconsistent with the 39mm Sixties specification

Domed crystal

Original: Convex sapphire crystal that sits proud of the bezel edge when viewed from the side. The dome is a production characteristic, not an option. Any Sixties with a flat crystal has had the crystal replaced incorrectly.

Replacement tells
  • Flat crystal profile when viewed from the side -- the dome should be clearly visible
  • Crystal with any distortion or scratching inconsistent with the case condition
  • Crystal that does not sit flush with the case at the correct height for the dome specification
Movement via caseback

Original: Exhibition caseback displaying Cal. 39-52. Simpler than the Pano family calibers: GO finishing standard still applies with Glashütte ribbing, but the movement architecture is more conventional.

Replacement tells
  • Movement layout inconsistent with Cal. 39-52 -- significantly different bridge geometry
  • Glashütte ribbing absent or present only as machine approximation
  • Non-GO movement inside a Sixties case
Cushion case integrity

Original: The cushion case shape is produced as a single form; the lugs are integral and should flow continuously from the case body with no visible join lines or misalignment.

Replacement tells
  • Visible join lines between the case body and lugs (indicates unauthorized case modification)
  • Case proportions inconsistent with the 39mm Sixties specification
  • Finishing level on the case that does not match the dial and movement quality

Case back markings

toggle
2018 to present
  • Exhibition caseback displaying Cal. 39-52
  • Glashütte ribbing visible on the movement bridges
  • "Glashütte Original" and "Made in Germany" on the movement
  • "Annual Edition" or production year marking on the caseback or dial for Annual Edition pieces
  • Reference and serial number on the case band
  • Steel hallmark

Movement tells

toggle
  • Cal. 39-52 is a simpler GO movement relative to the Pano family but maintains the Glashütte finishing standard. Three-quarter plate may or may not be present on this caliber; the Glashütte ribbing on visible bridges is the key tell.
  • Power reserve is approximately 40 hours. A Sixties stopping before 30 hours when fully wound warrants service.
  • The Annual Edition is produced in limited quantities in rotating dial colors. Confirming the dial color against known production records for the stated year is a useful reference check.
