Authentication

The lozenge-shaped date aperture is the signature element; any round or rectangular window is incorrect for the Visodate.

Known issues in the market
  • The lozenge date window is specific to the Visodate design; a standard round or rectangular window indicates the wrong dial or a non-original variant.
  • The Visodate is a recreation of the 1957 reference; dial printing must match the period-correct style.

Last reviewed June 2026

The Heritage Visodate Powermatic 80 reissues Tissot's 1950s Visodate. The defining feature is the fan-shaped date window at 3 o'clock: it is not a standard rectangular aperture but a sector-shaped window showing today's date in the center of a printed fan scale. Any example without this feature is not a Visodate.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
LOW

The Visodate is not a significant replica target. The unusual date window makes it harder to replicate convincingly.

  • Rectangular date window instead of fan sector is the clearest tell
  • Missing "VISODATE" text on the dial

Dial variants by era

EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2019 to present (current reissue)Silver, black, or blue dial. Applied sword-style or leaf-style hands. The Visodate fan-shaped date window at 3 is the primary identifier: a sector aperture with a fan-printed scale on the dial.
  • Fan-shaped date sector at 3 o'clock, not a standard rectangular window
  • "VISODATE" printed on the dial at 12
  • Tissot T-logo above VISODATE text
  • "POWERMATIC 80" below center
  • "SWISS MADE" below 6
1953 to 1968 (original vintage)Original vintage Visodate with the same fan-shaped date display, signed "TISSOT" at 12. Manual-wind movement (no ETA Powermatic on vintage). Smaller case, typically 34 to 36mm.
  • Vintage example will not have "POWERMATIC 80" anywhere on the dial
  • Case sizes typically 34 to 36mm with straight lugs

Service part flags

Date disc

Original: White date disc with black numerals. The fan-shaped window is cut into the dial; the disc rotates behind it.

Replacement tells
  • A standard rectangular date window on a watch sold as a Visodate is not this reference
  • Date disc that is yellow or off-white suggests aging or a generic replacement

Case back markings

toggle
2019 to present
  • Exhibition caseback showing the Powermatic 80 movement
  • Tissot-inscribed oscillating weight
  • Reference T118.430 prefix
  • "SWISS MADE" and serial

Movement tells

toggle
  • The ETA Powermatic 80.811 is a date-equipped variant of the C07.611. It runs at 21,600bph.
  • The fan-shaped date display uses a standard date disc; the sector window is a dial feature, not a movement complication. Movement removal does not affect the fan aperture.
