The world-first bi-color ceramic bezel is the signature engineering feature on this reference; the black-and-white ceramic bonding is difficult to reproduce and any seam or color bleed between the two ceramics is a red flag.
Known issues in the market
- Bi-ceramic bezel insert reproduced as two separate painted halves rather than a single bonded black-and-white ceramic piece; genuine construction shows no visible seam at the color transition.
- Independent-hour GMT function faked with a simple 24-hour "caller" hand that cannot be set independently of the local hour hand; genuine Cal. 8906 lets the local hour hand jump in one-hour increments without stopping the seconds or the GMT hand.
- Helium escape valve missing or non-functional; the HEV is a real functional component on this reference, not a decorative crown.

Common legitimate replacements
