Screw-down crown and 100m water resistance distinguish the Tangente Sport from the standard Tangente

Known issues in the market
  • Tangente Sport is occasionally sold with incorrect documentation claiming standard Tangente specifications
  • Verify water resistance specification is 100m, not the 30m of standard Tangente
  • Screw-down crown on the Sport requires different operation than push-pull on standard variants

Common legitimate replacements
  • Screw-down crown is a wear point; confirm threading is clean and crown screws down completely.
  • Rubber straps are correct for Sport variants; leather replacement is common on secondary market.
Expert resources: Nomos Glashütte customer service for serial verification. Worn and Wound Tangente Sport coverage includes water resistance specification documentation.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The Tangente Sport neomatik is the sport variant of the Tangente at 42mm with 100m water resistance and Cal. DUW 6101 automatic. The larger case scales the Tangente Arabic numeral layout up proportionally. The neomatik disc rotor and screw-tested crown seal are the authentication anchors.

Known reproduction risks

MEDIUM

Manual-wind Cal. Alpha fitted in Tangente Sport case

  • No rotor visible through caseback -- Alpha is manual-wind; DUW 6101 has a disc rotor
  • Caseback marking showing "Cal. Alpha" rather than "DUW 6101"

The Tangente Sport automatic and Tangente 38 manual-wind share the same dial DNA. The movement and water resistance specification are the primary differentiators.

Dial variants by era

Crown seal and water resistance

Original: The Tangente Sport is rated to 100m (10 ATM). The crown has an O-ring seal and does not screw down. Crown positions wind, time set, and date set should engage cleanly.

Replacement tells
  • Crown without the appropriate O-ring seal for 100m resistance
  • Moisture visible on the inside of the crystal or movement corrosion -- indicates seal failure
Movement (Cal. DUW 6101)

Original: Same neomatik automatic as the Orion Neomatik 41. Flat disc rotor, 3.2mm movement height. Exhibition caseback showing Glashütte stripes.

Replacement tells
  • Standard oscillating rotor through caseback
  • Cal. Alpha manual-wind movement fitted -- the Tangente Sport is automatic
  • Movement without Glashütte stripes

Case back markings

toggle
2019 to present
  • Ref. 563 (or variant)
  • "DUW 6101" movement designation
  • "NOMOS Glashütte" and "MADE IN GERMANY"
  • 10 ATM water resistance
  • Serial number (6-digit format)

Movement tells

toggle
  • Cal. DUW 6101 service tells are identical to the Orion Neomatik 41. The 42-hour power reserve, flat disc rotor, and Glashütte stripes apply equally here.
  • The 100m water resistance rating requires intact crown and caseback seals. Pressure testing before underwater use is recommended after any service.
