Authentication

Manual-wind only; any automatic rotor visible through the caseback is a movement swap.

Known issues in the market
  • An automatic rotor through the caseback is definitive evidence of a movement swap.
  • Slim case profile is intentional; any case that appears thicker than expected has been altered.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The Meister Hand-Winding uses the ETA Peseux 7001 base (J815.1), a manual-wind movement with a small-seconds subdial at 6. At 7.3mm case height, it is exceptionally thin for a mechanical watch at its price. The absence of an automatic winding rotor is a defining characteristic.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
LOW

No meaningful replica risk. The manual-wind thin case is hard to replicate at a price that would make sense.

Dial variants by era

EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2011 to presentSilver or white dial. "JUNGHANS" at 12, "meister" text below. Mixed Arabic and baton markers. Small seconds subdial at 6. No date on this reference.
  • Small seconds at 6 with no central seconds hand
  • No date window
  • "meister" lowercase text on dial
  • Case height 7.3mm is unusually thin; the watch should sit flat against the wrist without significant elevation

Movement

Original: ETA Peseux 7001 base (J815.1). Manual-wind only; no rotor. The movement is audibly different from an automatic: no sliding-plate rotor sound when the watch is moved.

Replacement tells
  • A watch that winds automatically is not running the J815.1
  • Any rotor visible through the caseback is a wrong movement

Case back markings

toggle
2011 to present
  • "JUNGHANS" and star logo
  • "CAL. J815.1"
  • Reference 027/3201.02
  • "SCHRAMBERG/GERMANY"
  • "HANDAUFZUG" (German for hand-winding) may appear on some caseback variants

Movement tells

toggle
  • The Peseux 7001 beats at 21,600bph. A movement that beats at 28,800bph on this reference has been replaced.
  • Power reserve is 45 hours. A manual-wind watch needs to be wound daily in practice; if it runs more than 50 hours, a replacement movement may be present.
  • The crown feels progressively stiffer as the mainspring approaches full wind. A crown that winds indefinitely without increasing resistance is slipping.
