Authentication

Both the satellite hour display and the winding efficiency gauge must function; a non-responsive efficiency gauge indicates a failed AMC module in the UR 7.10.

Known issues in the market
  • Discontinued 2017; verify serial and provenance for any secondary market purchase.
  • The winding efficiency gauge on the caseback is a functional indicator; a stuck or non-responsive gauge indicates a failed AMC module.

The UR-210 adds the "autopilot" complication to the satellite architecture: a winding efficiency indicator that tracks the wearer's activity and automatically adjusts the winding rotor between full-auto and manual modes. The turbine winding system and the winding-efficiency display are unique to this reference.

Known reproduction risks

LOW

Same architecture-complexity argument applies as UR-105. Condition and provenance are the evaluation criteria.

  • Winding efficiency display not operating
  • Standard rotor through caseback instead of turbine system
  • Satellite carousel timing incorrect

At this price point, documented service history from an authorized Urwerk service center is a prerequisite for purchase.

EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2012 to 2017Silver or dark case with satellite hour display and separate winding efficiency indicator. 43mm steel case. Rubber strap. The winding efficiency display shows a percentage of automatic winding vs. manual.
  • "URWERK" identification on movement or case
  • Satellite carousel for hours display
  • Separate winding efficiency sub-display
  • Turbine winding module visible through caseback or case aperture
  • 43mm steel case at 15.9mm height

Service part flags

Turbine winding regulator

Original: The UR-210 winding system uses a turbine rotor that self-regulates winding efficiency. This is visible through the caseback and produces a distinctive sound when winding.

Replacement tells
  • Standard oscillating rotor through caseback (turbine replaced)
  • Winding efficiency display not functioning
  • Autopilot mode switch not engaging between auto and manual

Case back markings

toggle
2012 to 2017
  • Reference UR-210
  • "URWERK" and Geneva identification
  • Caliber UR 7.10 designation
  • Production serial number
  • 30M water resistance

Movement tells

toggle
  • Power reserve should be consistent with the winding efficiency at the indicated percentage. A watch showing 100% automatic winding but running short of power reserve needs service.
  • The turbine winding sound is distinctive: a slight whooshing resistance when winding. Silent or free-spinning turbine indicates a winding mechanism issue.
