Authentication

The satellite hour cubes must advance in correct sequence showing the current hour; the AMC system controls winding efficiency and must not be bypassed.

Known issues in the market
  • Discontinued 2018; verify serial and provenance for any secondary market purchase.
  • The AMC winding control system is proprietary; any UR-105 TA with a modified or bypassed AMC system has been tampered with.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The UR-105 TA uses the Urwerk satellite complication: four rotating "hours" satellites mounted on a carousel. The current hour is indicated by whichever satellite is in the reading window. The TA (Tungsten Armor) adds protective plates over the satellite display. Urwerk's architecture is functionally impossible to replicate, so condition and provenance are the primary evaluation criteria.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
LOW

The satellite complication architecture cannot be replicated by any non-Urwerk production. The practical risk is condition misrepresentation or unreported service history.

  • Satellite carousel not advancing correctly
  • Non-functioning time display through case aperture
  • Case material inconsistent with stated steel and titanium combination

Purchase from authorized Urwerk dealers or with full documented provenance. Service history from authorized centers is important for condition verification.

Satellite carousel

Original: Four satellites are mounted on a central carousel. Each satellite rotates on its own axis as the carousel advances. The satellite in the reading position shows the current hour. Any slipping or jumping in the carousel indicates movement service.

Replacement tells
  • Satellite carousel not advancing on the hour
  • Hours not indicated correctly by the satellite in the reading position
  • Visible play or wobble in the carousel mount

Case back markings

toggle
2015 to 2018
  • Reference UR-105 TA
  • "URWERK" and Geneva identification
  • Caliber UR 5.03 designation
  • Limited production number or serial
  • 30M water resistance

Movement tells

toggle
  • Power reserve is 48 hours. Below 40 hours from full wind needs service.
  • Satellite timekeeping accuracy: the carousel advance should be precise on the hour. Advance by 30 minutes early or late indicates a carousel engagement issue.
  • AMC (automatic mechanical control) winding system: the winding turbine should operate silently.
