Authentication

The engraved Tudor rose on the caseback is the caseback authentication marker; any Tudor 1926 without it has a non-genuine or incorrect caseback.

Known issues in the market
  • The caseback must show the engraved Tudor rose and serial number; an unsigned or plain caseback is non-genuine.
  • The T600 is ETA 2824-2 based and appropriate; any architecture inconsistent with the ETA 2824-2 is a service replacement.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The 1926 is Tudor's pure dress watch, named for the year the brand was founded. The 41mm version is the larger of the two case sizes. Most dial configurations use Roman numerals. The T600 movement (ETA 2824-2 base) is correct for this reference. The 1926 is a clean, no-complications dress watch; the only complication is a date.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
LOW

The 1926 is rarely targeted by high-quality replicas at its price point. The risk is misrepresentation as a dress-focused Tudor with a higher-spec movement.

  • Exhibition caseback where only a solid back should appear
  • Roman numeral font inconsistent with Tudor's specific typography for the 1926 line
  • Rotating or scaled bezel on a stated 1926

Dial variants by era

toggle
EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2018 to present (silver with Roman numerals)Silver dial with printed Roman numerals and a date window at 3 o'clock. The design is deliberately classical and restrained.
  • Roman numeral hour markers on most variants -- a defining visual of the 1926 line
  • Silver, champagne, blue, or black dial depending on configuration
  • Date window at 3 o'clock, no Cyclops magnifier
  • 41mm round case with a simple polished bezel
  • No sub-registers, no chronograph pushers, no GMT hand
2018 to present (index variants)Some 1926 41mm variants use index markers rather than Roman numerals. The case and movement are identical.
  • Applied baton indices replacing Roman numerals on index-configured dials
  • Same 41mm case and T600 movement regardless of dial numerals

T600 movement (ETA 2824-2 base)

Original: Tudor T600 is the same ETA 2824-2 base as the T601 in the Royal. 28,800bph, approximately 38 hours power reserve. Solid caseback, no exhibition window.

Replacement tells
  • Exhibition caseback on a stated 1926 -- the dress watch uses a solid caseback
  • Power reserve significantly under 35 hours from full wind
  • Crown that advances a GMT hand -- the 1926 has no GMT complication
Polished dress bezel

Original: The 1926 bezel is polished steel, flat, and without any scale or function. It is purely aesthetic. No ceramic, no tachymeter, no dive scale.

Replacement tells
  • Rotating bezel on a stated 1926 -- the dress watch bezel is fixed
  • Bezel with any scale markings (tachymeter, dive scale) -- the 1926 is a clean bezel
  • Ceramic or aluminum insert where only polished steel should appear

Case back markings

toggle
2018 to present
  • Solid caseback with Tudor shield at center
  • "TUDOR 1926" on the outer ring
  • Reference M91650 and serial number
  • 100M / 330FT water resistance rating

Movement tells

toggle
  • T600 (ETA 2824-2 base), 28,800bph, 38-hour power reserve. Same platform as the T601 in the Royal. Reliable and well-supported globally.
  • Quickset date at crown position 2, clean click. No complications beyond the date.
  • Fully wound 1926 41mm should run 35 to 40 hours. Shorter power reserve indicates a mainspring needing service.
