Authentication

Column-wheel architecture through caseback is mandatory; any cam-actuated layout is a non-genuine movement.

Known issues in the market
  • Column wheel must be visible through caseback; cam-actuated layout is a non-genuine movement.
  • Flyback reset must be instantaneous; any delay indicates mechanism wear or damage.

Oris ProDiver Chronograph (ref. 01.774.7727.4263), Cal. 774 in-house flyback chronograph. Titanium case; 1000m water resistance; helium escape valve. A professional diving chronograph with an Oris in-house flyback movement.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
MEDIUM

The ProDiver's size (51mm) and price point attract reproductions aimed at buyers who want the professional appearance. The flyback function is not replicable in low-cost movements.

  • Chronograph does not reset in a single push (flyback function absent)
  • Crown guards with different integration angle than the case body
  • Helium escape valve that is decorative and non-functional
  • Caseback text depth inconsistent with factory engraving standards

Dial variants by era

toggle
EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2014 to presentOngoing production. 51mm titanium case. Integrated rubber strap. Flyback chronograph counters at 3, 6, and 9. Unidirectional rotating titanium bezel.
  • 51mm titanium case with prominent crown guards
  • Helium escape valve at 9 o'clock
  • Flyback pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock
  • Date at 4:30 or 6 (variant-dependent)
  • Rubber strap with titanium deployant
  • "ProDiver Chronograph" on dial

Service part flags

toggle
Helium Escape Valve

Original: Automatic helium escape valve at 9 o'clock. Releases trapped helium during saturation diving decompression.

Replacement tells
  • Fixed decorative valve that does not open under pressure
  • Missing valve entirely
  • Aftermarket valve with incorrect font or finish
Movement (Cal. 774)

Original: In-house flyback chronograph, 28,800 bph, 44-hour power reserve, column-wheel control.

Replacement tells
  • Chronograph that resets then restarts in two pushes rather than flyback single-push reset
  • Column wheel absent (visible during service; a cam-based chronograph indicates a different movement)
  • Power reserve significantly different from 44 hours
Crown Guards

Original: Integrated titanium crown guards protecting the crown and pushers. Part of the original case construction.

Replacement tells
  • Crown guards with different finish or attachment point suggesting replacement
  • Missing crown guards on a claimed-professional ProDiver

Case back markings

toggle
2014 to present
  • "ORIS CALIBRE 774" on caseback
  • "1000 M / 3300 FT" water resistance rating
  • "FLYBACK CHRONOGRAPH" designation
  • Reference and serial number
  • "TITANIUM" or "Ti" marking
  • "SWISS MADE"

Movement tells

toggle
  • Cal. 774 is in-house and column-wheel controlled. The flyback function resets and restarts the chronograph in a single push. A non-flyback chronograph in this case is a movement swap.
  • 28,800 bph, 44-hour power reserve. Power reserve test: fully wind and run; a genuine Cal. 774 should run approximately 44 hours before stopping.
  • Titanium case weight: the ProDiver Chronograph should be noticeably lighter than a steel equivalent of similar size due to the titanium construction.
