Authentication
The Broad Arrow handset and asymmetric case are the fastest visual authentication checks; any Speedmaster 57 with incorrect hands or a symmetric case is a dial or movement swap.
- Broad Arrow hands replaced with standard Speedmaster lollipop or sword hands from other Speedmaster references.
- Symmetric case; the 57 has a specific asymmetric case shape with extended lugs on one side that is not shared with the standard Speedmaster Professional.
- Cal. 9906 manual-wind replaced with automatic movement; any Speedmaster 57 that winds automatically is a movement swap.

Authentication guide
The current Speedmaster '57 is a 2022 reissue using the in-house cal. 9906 Master Chronometer manual-wind -- not the original external-crown cal. 321 architecture. The asymmetric case with the crown at 9 o'clock and pushers at 2 and 4 is the period-faithful design. Sapphire crystal front and back is correct for the modern version -- unlike the Speedmaster Professional (ref. 310.30.42.50.01.001) which uses hesalite on the front. The broad arrow hour and minute hands on the '57 are another distinguishing feature from the straight-baton hands of the Professional: the '57 has wide triangular-tipped arrowhead hands as a period tribute. Any standard baton hands on a claimed '57 indicate a parts swap.
