The case is only 5.9mm thick, the thinnest in current Patek production; a case that feels noticeably thicker on the wrist is the single fastest tell of a non-genuine or heavily serviced example.
Known issues in the market
- The ultra-thin 5.9mm case leaves very little room for error; a genuine 5738 sits noticeably flatter on the wrist than its 34.5 x 39.5mm footprint suggests.
- The 22K gold micro-rotor Cal. 240 is shared across many thin Patek references; verify the movement diameter and micro-rotor placement match the 5738 rather than a different Cal. 240 variant carrying an add-on module.
