Column wheel is visible through the caseback; pusher return must be clean on both chronograph pushers.

Known issues in the market
  • Sticky pushers indicate the chronograph side needs lubrication; test both pushers before purchase.
  • The integrated Polaris bracelet must have no play at the case-to-bracelet junction.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The Polaris Chronograph adds a flyback chronograph to the Polaris sports-watch platform. It retains the three-crown layout but the function assignments change: one crown operates the chronograph pushers in a combined pusher/crown design. The key authentication points are the same three-crown architecture and the functioning flyback.

Known reproduction risks

HIGH RISK

Two-crown layout without the pusher/crown at 2 o'clock

  • Only two crowns present rather than three
  • No pusher/crown function at 2 o'clock position
MEDIUM

Non-flyback chronograph

  • Chronograph requires stop before reset

Dial variants by era

toggle
EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2018 to present (current generation)Black or blue dial with flyback chronograph registers and the Polaris triple-crown layout. Bold sports dial aesthetic.
  • Three crowns: the pusher/crown at 2 o'clock starts/stops the flyback chronograph; the flyback reset is integrated into the 4 o'clock crown on some variants; the 10 o'clock crown operates the inner rotating bezel
  • Flyback chronograph registers: 30-minute at 12, seconds sweep hand, additional registers per layout
  • Inner rotating bezel for elapsed time (same as Polaris Date)
  • "POLARIS CHRONOGRAPH" text on dial
  • Bold applied Arabic numerals and lume plots at hour positions

Service part flags

Combined pusher/crown system

Original: The crown at 2 o'clock functions as both a pusher and a crown. Pressing it operates the flyback chronograph; pulling it enables time setting or alternate functions. The mechanism must distinguish between these two actions with no accidental activation.

Replacement tells
  • Crown at 2 that only functions as a conventional crown with no pusher action
  • Flyback function that activates from a crown other than the 2 o'clock position
  • Pusher action that is spongy or requires excessive force
Flyback chronograph

Original: Same flyback standard as other JLC flyback references: instantaneous reset and restart on a single press while running.

Replacement tells
  • Non-instantaneous reset
  • Chronograph that requires stop before reset

Case back markings

toggle
All Q9028180 production
  • Exhibition caseback with Cal. 751D engraved on movement plate
  • "JAEGER-LECOULTRE" and serial number on caseback rim
  • Reference Q9028180 on caseback or between lugs
  • Water resistance rating (200m) on caseback

Movement tells

toggle
  • Same flyback function test as other references
  • Three-crown system requires gaskets at all three positions for water resistance -- confirm pressure testing in service documentation
