At this level the question is provenance rather than authenticity. Production is tiny, every watch is accounted for, and the brand can confirm a serial directly.
Known issues in the market
- Ferdinand Berthoud is Chopard’s haute horlogerie sub-brand and output is measured in dozens. A watch appearing outside the brand’s own network deserves a call to the brand before anything else.
- This is the first Berthoud with a flying tourbillon and the first in the Mesure du Temps 1787 collection. Earlier references hid their regulator on the caseback side, so a watch with the tourbillon on the back is a different model.
- The FB 2TV.1 is not a limited edition, which is unusual for the brand and occasionally misstated in listings.

Common legitimate replacements
- Nothing on a watch of this age and production volume should have been replaced. Anything that has been is a direct question for the brand.
