The plainest Rolex is also one of the easiest to alter. Aftermarket coloured dials are the specific risk on this reference, because the bright factory colours carry real premiums.
Known issues in the market
- The 2020 Oyster Perpetual range included bright "Stella"-inspired dials in coral red, turquoise, yellow and candy pink. Those colours attract aftermarket copies fitted to otherwise genuine watches.
- An Oyster Perpetual has no date. A date window means you are looking at a Datejust, whatever the seller has written.
- The 124300 was replaced by the 134300 in 2025. Listings sometimes describe the older reference using the newer one’s specifications.

Common legitimate replacements
- Bracelets stretch with wear and a replacement Oyster bracelet is common. It should still be a genuine Rolex part with matching end-link codes.
- Crystals and gaskets are replaced at service. Neither affects originality when genuine parts were used.
