Authentication

The Co-Axial three-arm lever fork in Cal. 2500C is the primary authentication point; feel the star caseback relief with a fingernail to confirm genuine engraving versus a stamped fake.

Known issues in the market
  • Standard ETA-based movement swaps are the primary fraud vector; the Co-Axial fork in Cal. 2500C is architecturally distinct and visible through the caseback.
  • The Constellation star caseback engraving must have tactile relief; flat stamped stars indicate a non-genuine or replaced caseback.
  • Production ran approximately 2008 to 2020; examples with reference numbers outside this range may be a different generation.

Common legitimate replacements
  • Dials on older De Ville Prestige models occasionally show lacquer aging; confirm no re-lacquering by checking for uniform sheen under a loupe.
  • Bracelets and straps are frequently replaced on pre-owned examples; original Omega-signed deployant confirms bracelet provenance.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The De Ville Prestige 39.5mm sits between the 37mm and 42mm variants. Same cal. 2500C Co-Axial with the slim dress-watch profile. The baton indices (rather than the Roman numerals of the 37mm) and the date window are the visual differentiators within the Prestige lineup.

Known reproduction risks

LOW

Dial variant confusion within the Prestige lineup

  • Roman numerals on a watch sold as the baton-index 39.5mm -- different dial from the 37mm variant
  • Case diameter closer to 37mm than 39.5mm

The De Ville Prestige is not a high-volume fake target. Variant confusion within the Prestige lineup is a more frequent concern than outright reproduction.

EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2014 to present (cal. 2500C)Slim case (10.6mm) with applied baton indices and date window. Silver, blue, and black dial colorways. Leather strap standard. "Co-Axial" designation confirming the movement type. The case diameter is 39.5mm -- slightly larger than the 37mm but uses baton indices rather than Roman numerals.
  • Applied baton indices -- distinguishes the 39.5mm from the Roman-numeral 37mm Prestige
  • Date window at 3 o'clock
  • "Co-Axial" designation on the dial
  • Slim 10.6mm case profile
  • No screw-down crown -- the Prestige uses a push-pull crown
  • Leather strap standard

Applied baton indices

Original: Applied baton indices with specific proportions -- narrower than many Omega sport-watch indices. Each index is applied with clean base edges. Under magnification the adhesive/prong attachment should not be visible from the front.

Replacement tells
  • Roman numeral chapter ring instead of baton indices -- indicates a 37mm Prestige dial installed in the 39.5mm case
  • Index alignment inconsistent -- one or more indices visibly canted or not at 90 degrees to the chapter ring
  • Adhesive or prong visible from the front at the base of an index
Movement caliber

Original: Cal. 2500C is automatic Co-Axial with 48-hour power reserve and bidirectional winding. The Prestige 39.5mm has a solid caseback -- caliber verification requires opening the case.

Replacement tells
  • Crown winds with no progressive resistance from a run-down state -- indicates a quartz or non-functional movement
  • Seconds hand discrete-ticks rather than sweeping smoothly

Case back markings

toggle
2014 to present
  • Caliber 2500C designation
  • "De Ville" and "Co-Axial" text
  • "30 M / 100 FT" water resistance
  • Case reference and serial number
  • "OMEGA" and "SWISS MADE"
  • Solid caseback

Movement tells

toggle
  • Cal. 2500C winds automatically with bidirectional rotor. Power reserve is 48 hours. A watch stopping in less than 24 hours on the wrist has a winding or mainspring issue.
  • The Prestige 39.5mm shares the cal. 2500C with the 37mm variant. Service records and documentation confirming caliber identity are standard expectations for a purchase with any history.
