The S.A.R. Rescue-Timer crown guard is integral to the case and cannot be replaced without case work; a cracked or loose crown guard means structural damage.

Known issues in the market
  • Crown guards cannot be replaced without case work; a damaged crown guard is a significant structural issue.
  • The Sellita SW200-1 is appropriate for this tier; verify through the caseback.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The SAR Rescue Timer was developed for the German Maritime Search and Rescue service (DGzRS) to a specification demanding anti-magnetic properties, a flyback function, and 1000m water resistance. It is one of the most demanding tool watches from a Glashütte brand at this price point.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
LOW

No significant reproduction market exists for this reference at its price point.

  • Dial text quality below brand standard
  • Bezel with bidirectional rotation instead of unidirectional ratchet
  • Missing DGzRS emblem on runs that should carry it

Water resistance integrity is the primary quality check, not reproduction risk.

Dial variants by era

toggle

Rotating bezel

Original: Unidirectional ratchet action with positive click stops. No backplay in the ratchet direction. The bezel insert is steel with engraved and filled markings.

Replacement tells
  • Bezel with bidirectional rotation (dive spec requires unidirectional)
  • Bezel insert with printed rather than engraved markings
  • Loose or worn ratchet with backplay
Crown and case seal

Original: 1000m water resistance requires a screw-down crown and case gaskets in factory condition. The crown screws flush against the case with positive thread engagement.

Replacement tells
  • Crown without screw-down function
  • Crown that wobbles or has visible case gap when locked
  • Pressure test failure (indicated by moisture under crystal after submersion)

Case back markings

toggle
2002 to present
  • Reference M1-41-03-KB (rubber strap version) or variant
  • "MÜHLE-GLASHÜTTE" and address
  • 1000M water resistance designation
  • DGzRS cooperation emblem on some production runs
  • Serial number

Movement tells

toggle
  • Sellita SW200-1 power reserve is 38 hours. Running down before 32 hours suggests mainspring wear.
  • Check for magnetic interference sensitivity: run near speakers or a motor, then verify timekeeping accuracy over 24 hours.
  • The exhibition caseback shows the Mühle-branded rotor. Any non-branded rotor indicates movement work outside the factory.
