Authentication

The titanium case version is substantially lighter than steel; weigh the watch if doubtful, and verify the 80h power reserve of the Cal. H-10.

Known issues in the market
  • The Cal. H-10 (ETA C07.611 base) provides 80h reserve; a steel-case version provides only 38h reserve with the ETA 2824-2.
  • Weight is the quick field check for titanium vs. steel case.

Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium Auto (ref. H70545540), Cal. H-10 on an ETA C07.611 base. 38mm titanium case and bezel. 80-hour automatic. Same movement as the steel Khaki Field Auto; material difference is the primary distinguishing factor.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
MEDIUM

The Titanium variant carries a modest premium over the steel version. A steel Khaki Field Auto sold as the titanium variant is the primary risk.

  • Weight equivalent to a steel watch of identical size: material is not titanium
  • Caseback without titanium designation
  • Visible corrosion (titanium does not corrode in normal use)
  • Steel bracelet on a claimed titanium-case example (titanium case typically ships with fabric or leather; steel bracelet suggests steel case)

Confirm "Ti" or "TITANIUM" on the caseback, then hold the watch; the weight difference versus steel is immediately apparent.

  • 38mm case; same footprint as steel Khaki Field Auto

Case Material

Original: Titanium case and bezel. The watch should feel meaningfully lighter than a steel 38mm watch.

Replacement tells
  • Weight comparable to a steel watch of the same size indicates a non-titanium case
  • Caseback without "Ti" or "TITANIUM" marking
  • Case that shows reddish corrosion (titanium does not rust)
Crown

Original: Signed Hamilton push-pull crown in titanium or titanium-finished steel.

Replacement tells
  • Unsigned crown
  • Crown visibly heavier or different finish than the case

Case back markings

toggle
2020 to present
  • Hamilton shield medallion
  • "TITANIUM" or "Ti" explicitly marked
  • "HAMILTON" perimeter text
  • Reference H70545540 and serial
  • "SWISS MADE"
  • "100 M / 330 FT"

Movement tells

toggle
  • Cal. H-10 on ETA C07.611. 28,800 bph, 80-hour power reserve. Identical to the steel Khaki Field Auto movement.
  • The titanium case provides no movement authentication on its own. Movement is confirmed through authorized service records or caseback opening.
  • Weight test: the Titanium Auto should be noticeably lighter than any 38mm steel watch of equivalent case height. A claimed titanium example that feels steel-heavy warrants investigation.
