Authentication
The octagonal bezel finishing is the fastest authentication check on any Laureato.
Known issues in the market
- Used Laureato examples frequently have polished cases that have softened the sharp transitions between brushed flanks and polished top surfaces.
- Original factory finishing has very crisp right-angle edges at every brushed-to-polished transition; any rounding indicates case work.
| Area | What to check | What is correct | Red flag |
|---|---|---|---|
| case | Octagonal bezel brushed-to-polished transitions | Crisp right-angle edges where brushed flanks meet polished top surfaces on each octagonal facet | Rounded or blended transitions; softened edges from buffing or repolishing |
| bracelet | Integrated bracelet seating at lug interface | Bracelet meets the case with zero gap and no lateral movement; links are Girard-Perregaux signed | Any gap at the lug interface or lateral play; unsigned or aftermarket end-links |
| caseback | Exhibition caseback showing Cal. GP03300-0054 | GP-decorated bridges visible; movement text includes GP caliber designation | Non-GP movement visible; solid caseback substituted for exhibition caseback |
Common legitimate replacements
- Repolished cases are common on pre-owned Laureatos; sharp octagonal edge loss reduces value significantly.
- Aftermarket bracelets exist; verify end-link signing before purchase.

The Laureato 38mm is the most accessible entry into the integrated-bracelet trio of 1975, but the octagonal bezel with eight polished screws is an exacting detail that replicas consistently get wrong. Count the screws. Check the facets.
