Entry to the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève is voluntary and made by the brand. An entry is a watch registered for that year's competition, not a jury verdict, and several large houses including Rolex, Patek Philippe and Omega do not take part at all.

The Alpine Eagle XL Chrono is a 44mm flyback chronograph on the Alpine Eagle integrated bracelet platform. The flyback function is the most direct test: pressing the reset pusher while the chronograph is running should instantly reset and restart without stopping. A non-flyback movement in this case is immediately disqualified.
Known reproduction risks

MEDIUM
Alpine Eagle Chrono replicas are uncommon but the flyback function is difficult to replicate at production quality. Non-flyback movements in Alpine Eagle XL Chrono cases are the primary misrepresentation risk.
Chronograph that stops on reset press rather than performing flyback reset-and-restart
Eagle eye dial texture that is flat and printed rather than having depth
Exhibition caseback without column wheel visible
Case diameter other than 44mm

Flyback function
Original: Cal. 03.05-C is a flyback chronograph. Pressing the reset pusher while the chronograph is running instantly resets the seconds hand to 12:00 and immediately restarts the chronograph from zero -- without requiring a stop press first. This is a functional test requiring no tools.
Replacement tells
A chronograph that stops when the reset pusher is pressed rather than instantly resetting and restarting -- this indicates a non-flyback movement in the case
Reset that moves the seconds hand in two motions rather than a single instantaneous snap
Pusher at 4 o'clock that is labeled reset on a stated flyback but stops rather than resets-and-restarts
Column wheel
Original: Cal. 03.05-C uses a column wheel for chronograph actuation. The column wheel should be visible through the exhibition caseback as a toothed wheel that advances with each start/stop press.
Replacement tells
Exhibition caseback movement that does not show a column wheel, indicating a cam-actuated chronograph movement in a stated column-wheel reference
Movement layout through caseback inconsistent with the Chopard 03.05-C architecture
Eagle eye dial texture
Original: Same specification as the Alpine Eagle 41: concentric radiating texture with depth and optical shift under light.
Replacement tells
Flat printed texture without depth on the chronograph dial
Texture that is not centered on the dial

Cal. 03.05-C runs at 28,800bph with a 60-hour power reserve. COSC certification applies; rate testing should confirm within -4/+6 seconds per day.
Silicon pallet forks and escape wheel, same as the time-only Alpine Eagle. Magnetic exposure testing applies: the movement should show no rate change after brief magnet exposure.
Flyback function requires correct maintenance of the reset lever and its spring. A sluggish or partial flyback indicates worn or dried lubricant on the reset mechanism.
