The Aqucos diving watch is a more focused dive instrument than the Fifty Fathoms; secondary prices are modest because brand recognition for this specific reference is lower, offering collectors a technically capable watch at an accessible entry.

Editorial estimate, 2026 Q2. Actual prices vary by condition, date, and box/papers status.

Authentication

Cal. 1315 with three visible barrels through the caseback is the primary movement verification for the Aqua Lung collaboration.

Known issues in the market
  • The Aqua Lung branding on the dial should include the Aqua Lung logo in addition to the Blancpain signature; logo-only dials indicate a replacement.
  • The bezel numerals follow 1953-era Fifty Fathoms typography; modern Fifty Fathoms bezel inserts have different numeral proportions and are not correct for this reference.
  • Cal. 1315 must show three barrels through the caseback; a two-barrel movement indicates a movement swap.

Common legitimate replacements
  • Aqua Lung collaboration dials are not interchangeable with standard Fifty Fathoms dials; a dial swap removes the defining character of this reference.
  • The 120-hour power reserve is the same Cal. 1315 as the standard Fifty Fathoms Automatique; service requirements are identical.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The Aqucos is the smallest Fifty Fathoms family member at 38mm -- a proportionally compact dive watch carrying caliber 1315. The name "Aqucos" references an early partnership with the Aqua-Lung company. The ceramic bezel, 38mm diameter, and 300m water resistance define this reference.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
HIGH RISK

Wrong case size -- larger FF presented as Aqucos

  • Case measuring 42mm or 43mm instead of 38mm
  • Lug-to-lug significantly over 44mm
  • Dial proportions appear too large for the compact Aqucos design intent

The Aqucos commands a specific premium as the compact Fifty Fathoms. A larger FF incorrectly represented as an Aqucos is the most common confusion in this family.

MEDIUM

Movement swap from caliber 1315

  • Full-size rotor through display caseback
  • Power reserve under 48 hours from full wind
  • Bridge architecture inconsistent with caliber 1315

Dial variants by era

EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2012 to presentBlack or blue dial with applied luminescent indices. The 38mm case makes the Aqucos noticeably smaller and more wearable than the FF Automatique or the flagship 45mm 5015. "Fifty Fathoms" script is present on the dial consistent with family branding. "BLANCPAIN" at 12. Date window at 4:30. The overall dial is clean and functional, with the lume-heavy aesthetic appropriate for the Fifty Fathoms lineage.
  • 38mm case -- the defining size distinction from all other FF family members
  • Ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel
  • Applied luminescent baton indices
  • "Fifty Fathoms" script on dial
  • "AQUCOS" reference to lineage (may appear in documentation rather than on dial)
  • Date window at 4:30

Case size

Original: The Aqucos is 38mm across the dial, with a lug-to-lug of 44mm. This is the smallest Fifty Fathoms family member. Any watch in a larger case claiming to be an Aqucos is misrepresented.

Replacement tells
  • Case measuring over 40mm is not the Aqucos
  • Lug-to-lug significantly over 44mm indicates a different reference
  • Overall case proportions inconsistent with the compact Aqucos profile
Movement through caseback

Original: Caliber 1315 with its full-size bimetallic rotor. Display caseback showing the movement. Same movement architecture as all FF Automatique references. The dense, unidirectional-winding rotor is the primary visual identifier.

Replacement tells
  • Micro-rotor or any rotor smaller than the standard full-size design
  • Solid caseback where sapphire display caseback is expected
  • Movement bridge layout inconsistent with caliber 1315
Bezel

Original: Ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel. 120-click unidirectional action. The ceramic insert is matte black with engraved and luminescent-filled scale markings.

Replacement tells
  • Aluminum insert rather than ceramic
  • Bezel with fewer than 120 click positions
  • Scale markings appear painted rather than engraved and filled

Case back markings

toggle
2012 to present
  • Caliber 1315 designation
  • Water resistance: 300m / 1000ft
  • "BLANCPAIN" with mountain logo
  • Reference 5050-1110-NABA with serial number

Movement tells

toggle
  • Caliber 1315 in the Aqucos is mechanically identical to the larger FF references. Five-day power reserve, full-size bimetallic rotor, three barrels, silicon hairspring. The compact case size means the movement is more tightly fitted, but the architecture is the same.
  • The water resistance of 300m requires a screw-down crown and tested gasket integrity. If the crown does not have a definitive screw-down engagement, the case has been modified or the crown replaced.
