Authentication

The Royale Paris Manual must deliver at least 80h actual run time from a full wind; substantially less indicates a worn mainspring or regulation issue.

Known issues in the market
  • The Calibre Royal Manuel claims 100h reserve; at least 80h actual run time from full wind is the field threshold.
  • Wind fully and time the actual run; short run time means mainspring or escapement service needed.

Last reviewed June 2026

The Royale de Paris Manual uses the Calibre Royal Manuel hand-wound version of the in-house movement, rated at 100 hours. A simpler dial than the multi-complication automatic: small seconds only. The 100-hour power reserve from a hand-wound movement is the primary specification to verify.

Automatic movement with rotor presented as Manuel in Royale de Paris case

  • Automatic rotor visible through caseback -- the Manuel has no rotor
  • Crown with quickset date position or multiple click positions not consistent with manual-wind
  • Power reserve arc on dial of a watch claimed to be the simple Manual variant

Movement (Calibre Royal Manuel)

Original: In-house hand-wound, 100-hour power reserve. No rotor; no automatic winding components. The free-sprung balance architecture from the automatic is retained. Exhibition caseback showing the balance cock and going train.

Replacement tells
  • Any automatic rotor visible through caseback -- Calibre Royal Manuel is strictly manual-wind
  • Power reserve below 80 hours from full wind -- the Manuel is specified at 100 hours
  • Movement without the Pequignet-specific balance cock profile
  • Crown with more than one click position -- the manual-wind crown has a single position for both winding and setting

Case back markings

Movement tells

toggle
  • Power reserve is 100 hours from full wind. A manually wound Royale should run approximately 100 hours. Dropping to reserve before 80 hours indicates mainspring service.
  • No automatic winding means the power reserve must be maintained by hand winding. An unwound Royale Manuel will stop within 4 days of last winding.
  • The free-sprung balance is the same architecture as the automatic Calibre Royal. Timing adjustment requires the same balance rim micro-screw procedure.
