Inner rotating chapter ring is operated by the crown at 4; if the ring does not rotate in crown position 2, the mechanism needs service.

Known issues in the market
  • Chapter ring does not rotate when crown is pulled to position 2; the inner-bezel mechanism has seized or worn.
  • Chapter ring has scratches from tools used to adjust it manually; the ring should only be moved via the crown.
  • The 1967 recreation dial has specific lume plots; replacement lume in modern superluminova is a tell on an otherwise vintage-styled dial.

Common legitimate replacements
  • Straps are frequently replaced on Heritage Diver examples; original straps have the Longines signed buckle.
  • Chapter ring is a specific part for this reference; aftermarket rings may have incorrect scale markings.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

A re-edition of the 1960s Longines dive watch, 42mm, aluminum bezel, 300M. The L615 is a simpler ETA automatic; the vintage-inspired design is the value, not movement complexity.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
LOW

The Heritage Diver is a niche collector piece at modest prices without known systematic reproduction. Parts mixing with other Longines Heritage pieces is the main concern.

  • Date window present (Heritage Diver should be date-free)
  • Ceramic bezel instead of aluminum
  • Non-Longines caseback engravings

Dial variants by era

toggle
EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2016 to presentVintage-style matte black dial, aluminum bezel, no date, domed crystal
  • Matte black dial with applied lume indices
  • Large triangular 12 o'clock marker
  • No date complication
  • Aluminum unidirectional bezel with 60-minute scale
  • Domed sapphire crystal on some generations
  • 42mm round case, 48mm lug-to-lug, leather strap

Service part flags

toggle
Aluminum Bezel

Original: Unidirectional aluminum insert with 60-minute graduation; vintage-appropriate material (not ceramic)

Replacement tells
  • Ceramic insert substituted (wrong for the vintage re-edition aesthetic)
  • Incorrect graduation color or scale markings
  • Bidirectional rotation (should be unidirectional)
Dial

Original: Matte black dial with no date; any date window is wrong for this reference

Replacement tells
  • Date window present (Heritage Diver has no date on most references)
  • Glossy rather than matte dial finish
  • Applied lume replaced with printed lume after service
Crystal

Original: Domed sapphire on current generation; flat mineral on some earlier references

Replacement tells
  • Flat crystal on a domed-crystal generation
  • Mineral crystal substituted for sapphire (visible scratching)

Case back markings

toggle
2016 to present
  • Solid screwback engraved: LONGINES, reference L3.742.4.50.9, 300M/1000FT
  • Cal. L615 not shown externally
  • Some examples engrave the re-edition year

Movement tells

toggle
  • The L615 is a simpler caliber than the L888 family; it runs at 28,800 bph and lacks silicon hairspring. A magnet test will affect it more than silicon-equipped movements.
  • Power reserve is 42 hours; significantly less on a fully wound watch indicates mainspring wear.
  • Hacking seconds should work; absence of hack indicates wrong movement or service damage.
  • The vintage-re-edition case is shaped for display on a leather strap; any bracelet offered with this watch is a third-party addition since the reference does not include a metal bracelet.
  • Lume on the dial and hands should be matched in color; mixed lume compounds after partial service are a common tell on pre-owned examples.
