Authentication

Unidirectional bezel operation is the fastest functional check; a bezel rotating in both directions has a failed ratchet.

Known issues in the market
  • Bezel ratchet failure allows bidirectional rotation; this is a safety concern for dive use and a service requirement before any water exposure.
  • The screw-down crown must engage fully and seal correctly for the 300m water resistance rating; test crown engagement.
  • Lume on the bezel pip and dial indices fades at different rates; mismatched lume aging may indicate a bezel swap.

Common legitimate replacements
  • Cal. H-10 is standard ETA C07.611-based; service is inexpensive and widely available.
  • Bezel ratchet replacement is a case-level service; verify ratchet function before purchase.

  • Non-Hamilton crown profile
  • Different caseback medallion or missing medallion

Bezel Insert

Original: Aluminum insert with 60-minute dive scale. Unidirectional rotation with 120 detents.

Replacement tells
  • Non-aluminum material (ceramic would be an upgrade, not original)
  • Bidirectional bezel rotation when original is unidirectional
  • Scale starting position misaligned from 12 o'clock
Bracelet or Strap

Original: Rubber or steel bracelet variant. Metal bracelet has H-link construction.

Replacement tells
  • Generic aftermarket rubber strap without Hamilton taper
  • End links with visible gap at the case

Case back markings

toggle
2018 to present
  • Hamilton shield medallion
  • "HAMILTON" and "NAVY SCUBA" on caseback
  • Reference H82335131 and serial
  • "SWISS MADE"
  • "100 M / 330 FT"

Movement tells

toggle
  • Cal. H-10 at 28,800 bph, 80-hour power reserve. Same movement as the Khaki Field Auto and Jazzmaster Performer. A dive watch with a 42-hour power reserve is running a different base movement.
  • The caseback is solid. Movement identity confirmed through authorized service documentation or caseback opening.
