Authentication

The NY0040 shipped in several factory dial-color suffixes over its long run (09E, 09W, 17L among others); confirming which suffix matches the listing photos matters more than any counterfeit risk, which is low for this reference.

Known issues in the market
  • Reviewers have reported the case diameter as both 41.5mm and 42mm across coverage; measure with a caliper rather than relying on a listing description.
  • Mineral crystal scratches easily; many examples on the secondary market have a sapphire aftermarket replacement, which changes light reflection but is a common, disclosed mod rather than a red flag on its own.
  • The day-date wheel and crown-hacking behavior depend on the Miyota Cal. 8200; a non-hacking movement or missing day/date function indicates a different caliber has been installed.

Common legitimate replacements
  • Crystal; mineral to aftermarket sapphire is the most common disclosed mod.
  • Strap or bracelet; both rubber and OEM metal bracelet options existed across the run.
