Authentication

Inner rotating bezel ring (crown-operated, bidirectional) distinguishes the BR 03 Diver from a standard BR 03; crown screw-down maintains 100m rating.

Known issues in the market
  • Inner bezel ring not rotating indicates the mechanism needs service or the wrong crown position is being used.
  • Crown not threading down indicates gasket failure; do not water-test until serviced.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The BR 03-92 Diver is the square-case dive variant; the ceramic rotating bezel, 300m water resistance, and rubber strap system are what distinguish it from the standard BR 03-92 Steel.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
HIGH RISK

The square dive watch market is small; fakes of the BR03 Diver exist but less commonly than the standard steel variant. The ceramic bezel is a key authentication check.

  • Ceramic bezel: matte finish, no visible scratches under normal use; a scratched "ceramic" bezel is likely steel with a coating.
  • The unidirectional mechanism should have clean positive clicks; a loose or bidirectional bezel indicates a non-original or modified bezel insert.
  • Lug-to-strap attachment via screwed pins; fakes typically use spring bars.

Dial variants by era

toggle
EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2018 to presentBlue or black dial with large luminous indices; unidirectional rotating ceramic bezel with luminous pip at 12; rubber strap with screwed-pin attachment.
  • BR 03-92 DIVER text on dial
  • Ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel
  • Larger luminous indices than standard BR03-92
  • 300m water resistance rating on dial

Service part flags

toggle
Ceramic bezel

Original: Unidirectional rotating ceramic bezel with luminous pip; click-stop every 60 seconds.

Replacement tells
  • A non-rotating or bidirectional bezel is incorrect for the Diver variant.
  • Steel bezel substituted for the ceramic original; ceramic has a matte finish and higher scratch resistance.
  • Missing or replaced luminous pip.
Crown

Original: Screw-down crown for 300m depth rating; signed B&R.

Replacement tells
  • Non-screw-down crown cannot achieve the 300m water resistance rating.
Caseback gasket

Original: O-ring sealed caseback for dive rating; gasket should be replaced at service.

Replacement tells
  • Damaged or absent gasket means the watch cannot be trusted at rated depth.

Case back markings

toggle
2018 to present
  • BELL & ROSS BR03-92 DIVER
  • BR-CAL.302
  • SWISS MADE
  • 300M / 1000FT WATER RESISTANT
  • Solid caseback only; no display back due to depth rating

Movement tells

toggle
  • Same BR-CAL.302 movement as the standard BR03-92; the dive capability is in the case construction, not the movement.
  • Caseback thread should be clean and free of tool marks from prior forced openings.
  • Any service involving caseback removal requires re-pressure testing to 300m afterward.
