Authentication

Verify the column wheel through the caseback and confirm all three interchangeable strap types and quick-change mechanisms are present and functional.

Known issues in the market
  • Missing interchangeable straps (rubber, leather, and metal bracelet) reduce completeness value.
  • Quick-change strap mechanism that binds or requires tools to operate needs service.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The 5500V/110A-B148 is a silver-dial variant of the Overseas Chronograph. Authentication notes are identical to the B481 (blue dial) variant; the key distinguishing detail is the silver dial color. All structural authentication anchors (Cal. 5200, column wheel, quick-change strap) apply equally.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
MEDIUM

Same risk profile as the B481 blue-dial variant. Silver-dial examples with flat hobnail printing and non-column-wheel movements.

  • Hobnail dial with no tactile texture
  • Caseback without visible column wheel
  • Chronograph seconds that jump or stutter at start

Dial variants by era

toggle
EraDescriptionIdentifiers
2016 to presentSilver clou de Paris hobnail dial with two sub-registers and date. Functionally identical to B481 variant with different dial color.
  • Silver (not blue) hobnail dial with three-dimensional pyramid texture
  • Twelve-hour counter at 6 o'clock, 60-minute counter at 9 o'clock

Service part flags

Clou de Paris dial

Original: Same construction standard as all third-generation Overseas dials: individually pressed hobnail pyramids with physical texture.

Replacement tells
  • Dial color that appears blue or other than silver for the B148 variant
  • Hobnail pattern with no tactile texture
  • Sub-register scale markings that are blurred or inconsistently weighted
Chronograph pushers

Original: Two round pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock with positive click action. Same specification as the B481 variant.

Replacement tells
  • Pushers that do not return cleanly after depression
  • Reset functioning with the chronograph running (vertical clutch issue)
  • Central chronograph seconds not returning to 12 on reset
Interchangeable strap system

Original: Same push-button quick-release system as all third-generation Overseas references.

Replacement tells
  • Any rattle or play in the installed strap
  • Spring bar tool required for strap change

Case back markings

toggle
2016 to present
  • Exhibition caseback displaying Cal. 5200
  • Column wheel visible at movement periphery
  • Poincon de Geneve on all visible surfaces
  • 22k gold rotor with Maltese cross
  • Reference 5500V/110A-B148 on the case band
  • 150M water resistance

Movement tells

toggle
  • All Cal. 5200 movement tells from the B481 variant apply identically here. Column wheel visibility through the caseback is the single most important check.
  • Chronograph seconds sweep at 36,000 vph is noticeably smoother than 28,800 vph movements. A visibly stepped sweep indicates a different caliber.
  • Vertical clutch start should produce zero jump in the chronograph seconds hand from zero. Any jump or stutter at start indicates clutch wear.
