Production is small and replicas are effectively absent. What matters here is confirming which Trilobe you are looking at, because the collections share the same way of telling time and very little else.
Known issues in the market
- Every Trilobe reads time on rotating rings rather than hands, so the display alone does not identify the model. Une Folle Journée, Les Matinaux, Nuit Fantastique and Trente-Deux are separate collections with different cases.
- Trente-Deux is the only one built around an integrated bracelet and a fluted bezel. A Trilobe on a leather strap with a plain bezel is a different collection.
- The X-Centric calibre is the brand’s own micro-rotor movement. Earlier Trilobe watches used outsourced bases, so a movement question is really a collection question.
| Area | What to check | What is correct | Red flag |
|---|---|---|---|
| dial | How the time is displayed | Three concentric rotating rings carrying Arabic numerals, read against a single fixed marker. No hands anywhere | Conventional hands, which would make it a different brand entirely |
| movement | X-Centric through the sapphire back | Micro-rotor automatic, 33 jewels, 4Hz, 48 hours of reserve, 196 components, with bridges plated in black gold, 5N gold or rhodium | A full-size oscillating weight covering the movement, which is not how the X-Centric is built |
| case | Case construction and dimensions | 39.5mm across, 10.15mm high, 46.18mm lug to lug, assembled from seven parts with mirror-polished surfaces alternating against satin and microblasted ones | A uniformly polished case, or dimensions materially away from those figures |
| bracelet | Integrated bracelet | The bracelet is part of the case design and meets it without a visible gap or lug | Conventional lugs and a strap, which places the watch in one of the other Trilobe collections |
Common legitimate replacements
- Trilobe sells direct and services in-house, so parts questions go straight to the brand rather than to a third-party network.
- Crystals and gaskets are the usual replacements and neither affects originality.
Expert resources: Trilobe publishes the full technical block for the Trente-Deux on its own site. Monochrome Watches and Fratello both covered the collection at launch with photographs detailed enough to compare case finishing.
