The Spring Drive glide spring seconds motion is the definitive authentication; any stepping or sweeping seconds is not a Spring Drive.

Known issues in the market

Standard automatic movements with high-beat sweeping seconds are occasionally misrepresented as Spring Drive; only the glide spring produces truly continuous seconds.
The glide spring motion is distinctive under magnification; a near-sweep from a standard 28,800bph movement is not the same.

The SJE083 is a Japan-market Prestige Line watch using the Spring Drive Cal. 9R65 with its patented Tri-synchro regulator. The continuous-sweep seconds hand is the primary authentication tell: Spring Drive seconds sweep is truly continuous with no stepping or micro-stepping. Any ticking motion indicates a standard automatic or quartz movement. The 9R65 is a meaningful technical step up from any 6R or 4R caliber.

Movement tells

Cal. 9R65 seconds sweep is truly continuous, driven by the electromagnetic Tri-synchro regulator. This is not a smooth-sweeping automatic; it is a fundamentally different timekeeping architecture. Any stepping or micro-stepping disqualifies the movement as genuine 9R65.
Power reserve is 72 hours. A fully wound SJE083 that stops before 60 hours needs service.
The 9R65 accuracy specification is +/- 1 second per day, far tighter than any 6R or 4R caliber. A Prestige Line watch running 15+ seconds per day fast or slow has a movement problem.
The 9R65 is manually windable. Verify this function; a non-winding example may have a damaged mainspring or a substituted movement.
The Tri-synchro regulator uses a glide spring and electromagnet, not a lever escapement. There is no tick sound; the movement is essentially silent compared to a standard automatic.
