The city ring and day/night ring must advance in exact lockstep with the local-hour pusher; any lag between them is the fastest sign of a module out of sync or a non-genuine movement.
Known issues in the market
- Patek redesigned the city ring for the 5230 in 2016 to reflect a shifted Moscow time zone; a city ring that does not match the current Patek reference list does not belong on a genuine 5230.
- The Cal. 240 HU module sits on the dial side beneath the hand-guilloche center disc; incorrect pusher feel or a city ring that fails to advance cleanly with the hour hand indicates module service or a mismatched movement.
