Sub 300T Searambler

The Searambler is DOXA's silver-dial member of the Sub 300 family, one of the original colorways offered alongside the brand's orange when the Sub 300 launched in 1967. Collectors nicknamed it the "Silver Lung," and it delivers the same dive specification as its siblings in a quieter finish. The current re-edition (ref. 840.10.021.10) puts that silver dial in a heritage-correct 42.5mm stainless steel case with 300m water resistance.

What it is

DOXA launched the original Sub 300 in 1967 as a purpose-built professional dive watch aimed squarely at working divers rather than collectors, introducing a color-coded dial system where orange marked the flagship model and other colors, including the Searambler's silver, rounded out the range. DOXA went dormant for years before the modern Sub 300T reissue restored the historic model names in period-correct proportions, the Searambler among them. The re-edition keeps the original case architecture, the rotating bezel design, and the dial's printed typography, updated only where durability demanded it.

Buying notes

The ETA 2824-2 inside is a solid workhorse but not a manufacture movement, which matters to some buyers at this price point. Confirm the movement is running within COSC-adjacent spec before purchase; well-maintained examples typically hold plus or minus 5 seconds per day but neglected service intervals will show it. The silver dial shows dust, handling marks, and hairline scratches under close inspection more readily than a darker dial, so ask for detailed macro photos before buying pre-owned.

Finally, verify the crown seals and gasket history on any used example: this watch is rated to 300m but that rating depends entirely on gaskets that have been replaced on schedule.

New Searamblers sell at or near DOXA's published retail, with limited grey-market discount given steady collector interest in the brand's heritage lineup. Pre-owned examples in good condition hold value well relative to similarly priced ETA-based dive watches, largely because DOXA's 1960s provenance is genuine rather than manufactured. The silver dial is less common on the secondary market than DOXA's orange, which can mean a longer search for the right example but also less competition once you find one.

Service expectations

The ETA 2824-2 has a recommended service interval of five to seven years, with full overhaul parts widely available from independent watchmakers worldwide. Pressure testing the case seals should accompany every service, and gasket replacement is not optional on a watch rated to 300m.
