QF certification must appear in the papers; higher-polish beveling than Geneva Seal alone is visible through caseback.

Known issues in the market
  • Qualite Fleurier requires additional accuracy and finishing tests beyond Geneva Seal; verify in accompanying papers.
  • QF movement finishing shows higher-polish beveling than Geneva Seal alone; visible through caseback under magnification.

Authentication guide

Last reviewed June 2026

The L.U.C XPS Twist QF uses a quick-set crown mechanism to advance the date and annual calendar functions, which is the "QF" designation. This complicates the ultra-thin profile because the quick-set mechanism adds crown positions without adding case height. A crown that does not engage multiple distinct positions indicates a non-original movement.

Known reproduction risks

toggle
LOW

Replicas of the L.U.C XPS Twist QF are extremely uncommon. The complication is highly specialist and the market is narrow.

  • Crown without the multiple distinct quick-set positions
  • Annual calendar that does not advance automatically at month-end
  • Full-size rotor visible through caseback rather than the micro-rotor
  • Case height greater than the ultra-thin XPS profile

Dial variants by era

toggle
EraDescriptionIdentifiers
Current production L.U.C XPS Twist QFXPS thin case with an annual calendar complication accessible through crown positions. The "Twist" refers to the quick-setting mechanism, not a case rotation feature.
  • Ultra-thin XPS case profile despite the annual calendar complication
  • Annual calendar displays for day, date, and month visible on the dial
  • "L.U.C" and "Chopard" in the correct typeface
  • "QF" or "Twist QF" text indicating the quick-set function
  • Crown with multiple distinct positions: time-setting, date quick-set, and calendar quick-set
  • Micro-rotor visible through exhibition caseback, same as XPS family

Service part flags

toggle
Crown quick-set mechanism

Original: The crown has multiple positions that independently advance calendar displays. Pulling to different crown positions should engage different calendar functions with clear detents between positions.

Replacement tells
  • Crown with only one or two distinct pull positions on a stated three-position QF watch
  • Calendar quick-set that advances multiple displays simultaneously from a single crown position
  • Crown that rotates continuously without engaging a calendar function in the quick-set position
Annual calendar function

Original: Same annual calendar principle as the 1966 Annual Calendar: automatic correction at month-end except February. The QF mechanism allows quick correction rather than requiring waiting for the automatic advance.

Replacement tells
  • Calendar that requires correction at months other than February
  • Calendar display that advances in multiple jumps at month-end midnight rather than a single jump
Ultra-thin case with complication

Original: The XPS Twist QF maintains an exceptionally thin case despite the annual calendar. A watch claiming to be an XPS Twist QF with a case visually thicker than the time-only XPS is presenting incorrect specifications.

Replacement tells
  • Case height noticeably greater than the XPS family profile, inconsistent with the claimed ultra-thin construction
  • Movement through caseback showing a full-size rotor rather than the micro-rotor

Case back markings

toggle
Current production
  • Exhibition caseback displaying Cal. 96.01-L (or appropriate QF variant)
  • Micro-rotor signed "L.U.C." visible through caseback
  • Geneva Seal mark on the movement
  • Reference 161976-9001 on the case band
  • "Chopard" and "L.U.C" on the movement plate

Movement tells

toggle
  • Cal. 96.01-L in the Twist QF configuration runs at 28,800bph with 65-hour power reserve. The QF mechanism does not reduce the power reserve.
  • The annual calendar must correct automatically at month-end. Quick-setting the calendar through to February/March transition and verifying automatic correction is the most complete functional check.
  • Geneva Seal finishing applies throughout. The micro-rotor and bridges should show hand-chamfered edges under magnification.
